«Собачье сердце» — это novella Михаила Булгакова, написанная в 1925 году. В центре сюжета — история о превращении собаки по кличке Шарик в человека по имени Шариков благодаря экспериментам врача Преображенского. 
 
Доктор проводит операцию, в результате которой Шарик получает человеческие черты и разум. Однако, несмотря на приобретенные способности, Шариков оказывается грубым и невежественным, что приводит к конфликтам с обществом и окружающими. 
 
Произведение затрагивает темы морали, природы человека, социальных изменений в России после революции и абсурдности некоторых научных экспериментов. В итоге, Преображенский вынужден вернуть Шарикову собачью природу, подчеркивая, что человеческие качества не всегда зависят от внешнего облика. 
 
Книга полна сатиры и критики советского общества, а также размышлений о человеческой природе.
